Garrett Blacklock drove in five runs on two hits to lead Grissom Varsity Tigers past Gardendale 17-0 on Saturday. Garrett Blacklock singled in the fifth inning, scoring three runs, and singled in the second inning, scoring two.
Grissom Varsity Tigers jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Garrett Blacklock grounded out, scoring one run, Zach Shipp singled, scoring two runs, and an error scored two runs.
Grissom Varsity Tigers added two runs in the second after Garrett Blacklock singled to left field. A ground out by Charlie Cassingham extended the Grissom Varsity Tigers lead to 8-0 in the top of the third inning. Grissom Varsity Tigers scored seven runs on four hits in the top of the fifth inning. Dalton Dardin singled, scoring one run, Garrett Blacklock singled, scoring three runs, Ayden Reed singled, scoring two runs, and Jackson Davis hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.
Josh Burrell earned the win for Grissom Varsity Tigers. The pitcher gave up four hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out seven and walking two. Rowan Warmack took the loss for Gardendale.
Grissom Varsity Tigers accumulated 11 hits in the game. Josh Burrell, Cody Brothers, and Garrett Blacklock each collected two hits for Grissom Varsity Tigers. Grissom Varsity Tigers had patience at the plate, accumulating 10 walks for the game. Josh Burrell, Cody Brothers, Zach Shipp, and Dalton Dardin led the team with two free passes each. Josh Burrell stole two bases.
